Who’s Chester?

Chester is designed with one clear ambition: to create homes where co-location feels effortless. Joining Chester

Can anyone apply for a room?

Our homes are best suited for professionals or those planning a longer stay in the city. As most residents have a professional routine, our homes are mainly designed for working professionals (with a soft spot for PhD candidates). Our rooms are designed for one person to enjoy their own space.

Viewing & Booking

Can I visit the house before booking?

We respect our residents’ daily routines and avoid disturbing them, whether they’re cooking dinner, relaxing after work or simply enjoying their home. For that reason, in-person visits are not standard. Instead, you can explore the house through virtual tours and authentic photos, giving you a good overview of the house and the available rooms. Of course, we’re always happy to answer any questions.

Stay & Contracts

What is the minimum and maximum length of stay?

The minimum stay at Chester is 3 months. There is no maximum stay, you’re welcome to stay as long as it suits you.

Can I leave earlier than planned?

Yes. Once the minimum stay has been completed, you can end your lease at any time with two months' notice by email. If you leave earlier, a one month fee applies unless you're covered by early departure insurance or find a new resident to take over your room.

Cost & payments

Is a deposit required?

Yes, a security deposit equivalent to two months’ rent is required.

Are there any one-time fees?

There is a one time fee of €250, covering the application process, the inventory check and the final cleaning at the end of your stay. This helps ensure a smooth move in and move out experience.

Living at Chester

What’s included in the all-in price?

Pretty much everything you need:

  • Gas, electricity & water
  • High-speed WiFi
  • Fully furnished house & rooms
  • Weekly cleaning of common areas
  • Filtered tap water
  • Smart TV, sound system & Netflix
  • Home insurance (property, excluding personal items)
  • General maintenance & waste disposal

All Chester homes offer extra perks such as a garden terrace and a fitness area.

One simple price. No surprise bills.

How are shared spaces cleaned?

Shared spaces are cleaned once a week, so everyone can enjoy a tidy home without arguing about who forgot to vacuum.

What happens if something breaks?

As always, communication is key! Report it through the Chester App or WhatsApp, and we’ll try to find a solution with you.

Can I personalize or decorate my room?

Absolutely. Feel free to make your room feel like home. Just make sure walls, floors and other surfaces remain undamaged and the room is returned in its original condition.

Are pets allowed?

Out of respect for everyone sharing the home, we kindly ask that pets are not brought into the house.

Administration

Can I register my address at Chester?

Yes, you can register your address at Chester if needed. If you require any documents or confirmation for the registration process, we’ll be happy to help.

Which documents do I need to provide to join Chester?

​​Joining Chester is simple. We only require a valid ID and proof of financial stability, such as an employment contract, a recent payslip or a bank statement. If that’s not possible, you can apply with a guarantor who provides their ID, proof of financial stability and a signed guarantor letter.

What if I don’t feel comfortable with something or someone?

If something doesn’t feel right or you’re uncomfortable with a situation or someone in the house, please let us know. You can reach us easily via our app, WhatsApp, email or phone. We’re here to listen and will always do our best to help and make sure everyone feels comfortable at home.
